A grand graduation ceremony for the 2022 graduates at the College of Communication Engineering (CCE) of Jilin University was held at 9:30 am on 21 June, 2022 online and offline simultaneously. All leaders, some faculty representatives, and all school counselors of the CCE attended the ceremony at the main venue, and all graduates joined the particularly meaningful “online ceremony” via a whole-process HD live streaming platform. Chai Huai, Deputy Secretary of the CCE CPC Committee, presided over the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem. Zheng Dong, Secretary of the CCE CPC Committee, announced the list of students who were awarded the title of “2022 Excellent Graduates of Jilin University”. Chen Wanzhong, Director of the CCE Academic Degree Committee, read out the list of 2022 graduates who obtained doctoral degrees. CCE’s Deputy Dean Yan Xuezhi announced the list of 2022 graduates who obtained master’s degrees, and Deputy Dean Zhao Yan read out the list of 2022 graduates who obtained bachelor’s degrees.
Lin Chenlan, an undergraduate representative, and Zheng Xiao, a postgraduate representative, gave speeches respectively. In their speeches, they recalled the times when they studied hard and made remarkable achievements at the CCE, and expressed their deep wishes and gratitude to the university, the college, and the teachers. They also gave heartfelt congratulations and expectations to all graduates, hoping they will have a bright future and maintain their friendship whenever they meet.
Lin Hongbo, head of the Department of Electronic Engineering, represented all faculty members at the CCE to earnestly tell students that their new journey was long and arduous, on which they would encounter serious historical challenges as well as new development opportunities. Ms. Lin suggested students seize those opportunities, adopt a virtuous, positive, optimistic, and grateful attitude towards life, struggle with the spirit of high ideals, innovation, down-to-earth attitudes, and modesty, have a strong will to study with diligence, reflection and confidence, follow the trend to achieve enormous progress, and shoulder the new mission of the times. By doing so, students could contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Dean Sun Xiaoying delivered all graduates a speech themed on being selfless and optimistic. He said that students stood a major test by the sudden pandemic in their life and shared his thoughts from three aspects. First, being selfless and patriotic. He hoped that students not only bear in mind JLU’s traditions and advantages of being politically solid and professionally competent and JLU’s history of loyalty to the country and the Party, but also put these virtues into practice. Under the historical condition of great changes unseen in a century, students were expected to explore new opportunities and break new ground amid changes, shoulder their mission and responsibility of making due contributions to building a strong country, and devote themselves to the great undertaking of the Chinese people to create history. Second, paying relentless efforts and pursuing lifelong learning. Graduation is not the end of learning, but a new start. Jilin University fostered students’ solid professional foundation and qualified learning ability. After graduation, students should remain thirsty for knowledge, keep learning, and constantly empower themselves. Third, upholding goodness and optimism. The way to success is rife with obstacles. Mr. Sun hoped students could cherish the present, do what they should do, and love whom they love. Besides, he expressed that CCE students should address challenges with smiles, be unafraid of hardships, stick to struggling, and always be optimistic. It is believed that every cloud has a silver lining. May students make fast steps and hold high ideals on the way forward.
At last, Mr. Sun stated that the good relationship between teachers and students as well as the love for Jilin University would long be engraved in people’s hearts although they had to separate. No matter where they were, the College of Communication Engineering of Jilin University would always be a warm harbor for them. May students stay selfless and optimistic in their life!
The graduation ceremony ended with the JLU anthem singing “people can cross any barriers and go a long way in life”. We sincerely hope the 2022 CCE graduates can have a bright future and all achieve success!
